In the age of YouTube, podcasts are like, you know, so last century.
I love podcasts, I can download them once and have them running on my playlist all day while I work on other stuff. I don’t get yelled at for lazing around all day watching vids and chewing up all our bandwidth. A podcast lets my imagination run free, whereas a video fills in all the blanks, leaving me a passive observer. When someone says something I disagree with, I can join in and hurl abuse or add remarkably cogent rebuttals. Yeah, I don’t get out much!
In order to listen to podcasts you will need a computer with some kind of sound output, and a media player. Oh come on, I’m not going to hold your hand that much, go figure it out for yourself.
Lets take a look around at some podcasts of interest to writers and authors:
The Caffeinated Writer Podcast
Lots of gritty stuff here, think gonzo drunken weird stuff.

Lots of great technical interviews and author chats
Writers on Writing is a weekly radio program produced and hosted by author Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, with co-host Marrie Stone. Each Wednesday at 9am Pacific, writers, poets and literary agents join her and/or Marrie. The show is broadcast from the studios of KUCI-FM; on your radio in Orange County, CA, at 88.9 and simulcast worldwide at www.kuci.org.
A little bit of everything here, opinion pieces, technical aspects and interviews.
So there you have a few places that should give you hours of entertainment and a little education or at least food for thought. Don’t forget to leave a link to your favourite podcasts in the comments below.
