I work on the premise that there is a market out there, whatever you have penned, be it prose, poetry or anything else. So, it is best to look for the right place to submit your precious work. You can find the market and write something for it as well. I do both.
If you are worried about someone stealing your work just google some sentence from it - if it comes up that someone pinched your words write to the web hosting company and complain. Remember - ideas can be stolen but sentences are unique. If you don’t mind uploading your work to a website and sharing it like WritingRaw - a bit like a literary youtube go here. These sites can be a lot of fun. You can learn and polish your work then submit it for publication, successfully.
